A subdomain is part of a web address that is under the main domain, for instance name.example.com. From a technical perspective, even in www.example.com the "www" part is a subdomain because the fully qualified domain name is only "example.com". Each subdomain could have its own website and records and can also be hosted with a different company if you need to use a certain feature which is not provided by your current provider. One example for using a subdomain is if you have a business website along with an online store under a subdomain where customers can acquire your products. You can also have a forum in which they can comment on the products and by using subdomains instead of subfolders you'll avoid any risk of all sites going down if you perform maintenance, or update one of the site scripts. Keeping your websites separated is also more secure in the event of a script security breach.

Subdomains in Cloud Web Hosting

Our cloud web hosting packages will allow you to create countless subdomains for any domain address hosted within your account without any difficulty. Assuming that the main domain name is added, it takes 2 mouse clicks to set up a subdomain and pick what folder it's going to open (if different from the default one), set unique error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions, set a shared IP address or a dedicated one, and a lot more. All subdomains will be conveniently listed in alphabetical order under their main domain for easy access and administration. By right-clicking on any of them and by using instant access buttons you can see the error logs, visitor statistics or site files for that specific subdomain. We have not set a limit for the total number of subdomains you can create with any one of our plans, so you can have as many as you wish.

Subdomains in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you buy a semi-dedicated server package, you will be able to create as many subdomains as you want as this feature is unlimited. Since the web hosting packages are very powerful, we've decided not to put any restriction on the number of subdomains. Our innovative Hepsia Control Panel will allow you to create a new subdomain with no more than a few clicks, to select which folder it's going to access within the account, to enable FrontPage Extensions for it, to create custom error pages, to set a shared or a dedicated IP address if you have one, and a lot more. For your convenience, all subdomains are going to be listed under their root domain, so you can effortlessly see and handle them. Through quick access links, you'll have the ability to open the site files for any of the subdomains that you have or see its DNS records.
