An access log is a detailed list of all the files that were accessed by the guests of a certain site. Any file which was requested in some way will be listed, so if you have one page with 3 embedded pictures, one video and one embedded text file, for example, the access log will contain a total of 6 entries - one for each of the 6 files which were accessed when the site visitor opened the page. A log typically contains the file name and path, the date, along with the visitor’s OS, web browser and IP address. Oftentimes you can also find the referrer sites that sent the visitors to your Internet site. The data an access log file contains is in human-readable plain text format. It can also be processed by special software on a desktop machine and used to prepare reports on the efficiency of an Internet site, besides the web stats that your hosting server may have produced.

Access Log Manager in Cloud Web Hosting

Our custom-built Hepsia Control Panel features a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are one of them. As soon as you sign in to your cloud web hosting account and take a look at this section, you shall find a list of all the domains and subdomains you have. All it takes to permit the generation of access logs is to press a button that'll be available next to each and every domain/subdomain. In case the option is active, you will see a download link along with the file size so far, so you shall be able to save the file to your laptop or computer and examine it or process it with some app. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective instantly, so if you no longer need one, you may stop it with just a click from the very same section of the CP. You will still be able to access the already generated content by simply clicking on the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, it won't take more than a few clicks to trigger the generation of access logs by our system if you need them. The feature may be permitted through the Hepsia web hosting Control Panel and this may be done separately for each domain or subdomain you have in your account. Whenever you log in and visit the Access/Error Logs section of the CP, you'll find a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to all of them. A single click will activate the log generation and another one will deactivate it, so you can control this function with great simplicity. A Download link in the same section will permit you to save the created content as a text file, that you can then use on your laptop or computer. Even if the logs are deactivated, you will still be able to download the data that's been previously generated.
